Flash Sale on 23andMe kits

It was just posted on the 23andMe forum that the promotions site Gilt City (think GroupOn) is offering a discount on 23andMe kits. You can purchase one kit for $225 (savings of $74) or three kits for $600 (savings of $99 each). The site says that the offer is good until Thursday, September 13th, but they may sell out before then. You have until December 6, 2012 to redeem it. (Makes a great holiday gift!)

Find the sale here.

**Great news - This sale has been extended through Oct 1st.

  1. CeCe,

Any idea if they will ever offer a really good deal to upgrade from V2 to V3?

    1. I wish they would because I need one too, but I doubt it because it costs them as much as running brand new test.

  2. Sooner or later, these folks are going to have to figure out a way to share databases.

It's like not being able to call someone who works with a different phone company.

  3. It makes no sense to order kits as long as they have not repaired Ancestry Finder.

    1. I'm not sure what you mean, Ben. They did fix the Ashkenazi calculations in August. What else is broken on AF?

  4. Sad, I can't take advantage of the Gilt City offer as I live in Canada. I was going to buy 3 kits.

    1. Could you possibly contact me at vil2008 at gmail.com before you buy the kits?

    2. @DeannaB - If shipping is the issue, you could have them shipped to a friend in the US and they could send them to you.

  5. You can buy it if you make an account on the main gilt site and add your payment info there and use it when buying it on gilt city. Worked for me.

    1. Shawn: Do you have some info about which genes give useful info here? I already tested as a "slow metabolizer" of caffeine which of course is a far more important test than it sounds, as it proves my cytochrone p450 detox systems are impaired (been saying this for years but now I have proof). But I'm wondering what else you and others find helpful here.

      Thanks,
      Cyndi
