  1. I am interested in this but I do not currently have an Ancestry subscription, which I understand is required to compare the results with others. What additional amount would I need to pay to have access to my data if I too up this offer?

    1. $49 for 6 months to access the trees of your matches. You could use the 14 day trial when the results come in though.

  3. Are you aware of any other tests with Black Friday/Cyber Monday discounts?

If not, in your opinion (if you wouldn't mind answering) what makes AncestryDNA the first place I should try as a newbie to the genetic/geneology world?

    1. Yes, Family Tree DNA has a sale right now too. http://www.familytreedna.com/cj.aspx?ftdna_ref=497. I like all three companies, but with this low price AncestryDNA is definitely the place to start. After receiving your results you can upload the raw data from Ancestry into the Family Tree DNA database for only $39 (vs $89 on sale right now). 23andMe is great too, but they just doubled their price to $199.

  4. The link you have posted leads to a page that only says $99 with no mention of a code or discount. Is there more info that I'm missing? Thanks!

    1. Hi, try a different browser or clearing your cookies. You should be seeing $69.

  5. Sorry, but I have another question which I can't resolve from the Ancestry website. You say I would need "$49 for 6 months to access the trees of your matches." Obviously that doesn't include use of Ancestry's database and search. If I purchased a few months access (I would be using UK Heritage plus) would that then include access to the DNA data, or are the two totally separate?

    1. First of all, the UK DNA test sale is found here: http://www.kqzyfj.com/click-5455910-12175203-1428079606000.

Yes, a regular membership will allow you access to your matches' trees. I believe there is a 20 % discount on new memberships as well this weekend.

  6. Thanks for replying! I ordered the kit and hope this will be a nice re-start to a journey I started some years back without this technology and am ready to try again . I hope to use your site (and occasionally you :)=, if I don't see the answer already), which I was unaware of before, to assist me.
